We had a WONDERUL shared art class yesterday (Sunday) with Sadhbh and Caoimhe...a simple but effective result I`m sure you`ll agree ? First of all , I drew out the girls initial letter of their name onto sticky contact , and cut them out. Next we stuck the letters to the middle of a large sheet of art paper , and gave the kids some watercolur paints (remember if you are doing this lesson a tiny squeeze of paint goes a very long way)...the girls all colured over the whole page and once the pages were dry we carefully peeled away the contact letter...all were delighted with the results, especially daisy who wouldnt even turn her painting around for a photo she was so engrossed in looking at her artwork herself ! Well done girls :0)

Sharing recipies
Aideen typed out her "secret" recipie for her lip-smackingly tasty ginger ale last night and printed out loads of copies (on recylcled paper of course) to bring to the organic market today, where the lovley lady on the till left them stacked for all customers to take one...Aideens idea is to share an organic and kid-friendly recipie at least once a month with people , leaving the printed recipies around the town ,in a different venue each month , next month shes going to put them in the library :)

Pumpkins, and jigsaw letters !
Today ,we got out to plant our pumpkins (fingers crossed)...there was lots of excitement as we emptied our compost bin , oh glorious homemade compost ,you cant beat it ! And as we could`nt get our hands on any hay ,we improvised , and went to the petshop ,where they kindly gave us a bag of the hay they`d cleaned out of the rabbits cages this morning (thanks guys !)...everyone got stuck in...Daisy even sneaked off during the process ,but I happened to "catch" her , sneaking out of the fruit/herb patch with a fistfull of yummy red-currents :0) also in this posting we have shown our "jigsaw letter" ,very simple but fun idea...you draw a jigsaw shape, colour it in or draw a picture on it , then turn it over ,write your letter...and then you cut out your jigsaw pieces and pop them in the envelope , whoever is receiving the letter has to of course ,make the jigsaw before they can read the letter !

Hands...
Aideen and Ella drew around their hands over and over again , taking turns so that both their hands are on the same page, and although its not yet finished as Ella is gone on holiday heres a photo of the "friendship" picture , they are colouring in each "bit" a different colour...nice idea, they came up with it themselves !

Lucky to have a library
We are SO lucky to be blessed with a great library just across the road from us...every Homeschoolers dream ! Yesterday the library were selling off some books at just 50 cents each and we picked up some great books for the kids and for the schoolroom. Also Aideen covered her notebook with the apple prints she made earlier and laminated the other sheet to use as a table mat...we also cleaned out the hamsters cage, watered the plants ,tidied and hoovered the school room...the usual Friday evening jobs :)
